In Pasadena, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in California, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 amβ5 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach The Standard Design Group Nurseries at (626) 610-4648; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is thestandarddesigngroup.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Pasadena is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Pasadena is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I hired SDG for a front yard landscaping project. While most of the work was completed, several punch-list items remain unfinished. The crewβs last day onsite was November 24, 2025. Before those items were completed, my project manager requested final payment, which I made. I submitted a written punch list the same day. December 19 was the last response I received from her. After leaving messages with the companyβs main line, Chris contacted me on January 5 and asked that I resend the list. He informed me the project manager was no longer with the company. No one had proactively followed up regarding my project. We spoke again on January 21. During that call, Chris stated, βThis isnβt my project, I have no investment in it,β and disputed responsibility for most of the remaining items. Since that conversation, I have not received further communication. As of February 16, the project remains incomplete. Outstanding items include damaged cement work with a substandard repair, incorrect light caps and no explanation of the lighting control system, no walkthrough of the 3-zone drip irrigation system, unfinished fence staining, visible spray paint markings left behind, and a borrowed

I just left from there and it was so depressing to see so many unhealthy and sad plants. I have purchased from them several times and have always appreciated the care they gave to their plants and customers. When I pulled up I immediately saw alot of dead plants. When I walked inside to purchase some indoor plants they all looked dead and neglected. I asked the employee why are the plants all looking like this and if they were on clearance. He said oh I've been watering them and no they weren't on clearance. They were so pathetic O wouldn't even buy any for $5. It made me so sad to see such neglected plants. Like they were locked up for months without water or light. Don't waste your time going there.

Came here with my mom to buy her a plant for Motherβs Day and she fell in love with the selection of roses and indoor plants. The worker, Ricky G was so nice and helpful. He made the experience fun and made my momβs day. We will definitely come back and recommend this nursery to friends and family!

The Standard Design Group did a large landscaping project for us in our backyard. The space is quite steep on the side of a hill and they had great ideas on how we could design usable spaces. They created a fun turfed field for the kids to play, as well as a cool fire pit area for the adults. Their team worked on the project for about a week and the installation crew was amazing. They worked so hard and did a great job. They called about 150 timbers down 3-flights of stairs, it was impressive. The Standard installed three kinds of lighting, flood lights, up-lights on trees, and stair lanterns. Additionally, we had an issue with a light prior to a birthday party and Alan Almoradi set up a quick repair visit to make sure everything was in great condition. We had a great experience with The Standard Design Group.

I wouldn't use TSNDGN for any landscaping projects. My experience was that I trusted them to know all the elements needed for my landscape project. They were hired to prep a site for a shipping container pool that is UNLEVEL as well as build a fence - sand and stain etc. They were also to build a deck extension to cover mechanicals, there is a gap where the hole is exposed. They also cut strange and totally uneven pieces of wood to surround the pool as a part of the extension. There are still stickers left attached to materials, concrete that was supposed to have been removed during demo left in place, debris and nails left all over. They haven't completed certain steps to retain, backfill or sustain the pool (but have taken all my money). They've left earth exposed in my yard. They half sanded and stained my fence in various colors and in some cases, only one side. It's totally weird and incomplete. They asked for 50% deposit upfront - and contractors in CA can only ask for 10% or $1000. Whichever is less. They use their retail license to skirt this -- so I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see a lot of other steps skirted. They've also harassed, bullied and threatened my from sh
